Fresh off the bench is Revell's Der Guber Wagen. It's one of those classic corvair powered showrods designed by our good ol' deceasesd former Revell employee,Bob Paeth. I had already done two of his designs,The Amazing Moon mIxer, and Patent Pending. So,I had some knowledge of how finicky this little bugga was gonna be to assemble.Lots of patience is required to build any of these kooky corvair showrods! Body is painted in Tamiya TS-31 Bright orange spray paint. The roof, seat and floor are Duplicolors semi gloss spray paint. The sink, cabinets, and sink surroundings are done in Krylon spray paints. The Goldish popcorn tin is hand painted as is the black "steps" on the fenders.Other details on the engine are also hand painted with good ol' testors bottle paints.Oh,the shifter is the only non original part....the original shattered when I was removing it from the sprue. The decals on the body and glass were done for me by Hotwheels Bob...This was also the last kit I ever purchased from him!!! Enjoy!
First A couple of shots of the interior before I glued the roof on: And now for the finished build! Thanks for lookin' Todd

Really nice job on a really fiddly kit! My first encounter with one of these (many years ago) led to way more damage than a snapped shifter!

Agreed! It's great to see these vintage kits being done well! And that there being done HERE! I've got a few of these relics, but I never find the time to get to at least one, which is a bugger. So, seeing one posted certainly does give encouragement. Great job man!

Thanks for the compliments on this build,Harley,Kieran, and Jim!!! I really appreciate it! I plan on doing the Meter Cheater sometime this year, although it won’t be done in the same color as it’s molded in. Stay tuned!

It's cool when someone builds one of these kits as they aren't seen very often . I bet it was bittersweet using those decals , but on a kit that you got from him is very fitting . . . great job !

One of my grail kits , you did a great job on it ! I'm a firm believer these kits are so rare because the average 12 year old would make an absolute mess of it ; its definitely not a kit you can build in an afternoon . I built a Moon Mixer when I was 11 and a Guber Wagon soon after , both ended up a total mess and both cars ended up as firecracker material .

It’s great to hear from you!You know I never did the firecracker trick on models as a youth…I’ve enjoyed reading about people who did it though! This is one of those kits that could have pushed one over the edge!!! Todd

Thanks,Bob!!! Yes it was bittersweet using those custom made decals!!! Hotwheels Bob and I had several conversations about this kooky showrod series of Revell kits!!! This one was my favorite to build of the series so far!!! Todd
