I was stripping the Monogram '69 Camaro (the '76 orange version) with the same oven cleaner I've always used. The only paint to speak of was black in the engine bay, the sound deadener under the bonnet & the badge-work, all the rest was just the orange plastic...cool! So! I also had an MPC 'the Cat' Thunderbird as well that had been sitting there, it was a junker, salvageable, & whoever owned it prior had given it a coat of clear, so this was just clear over the black plastic...& the windscreens. I've put them in the 'Tupperware' container after spraying each one, sealed it, left it for 24hrs, & then taken them out to wash them. Camaro stripped! No probs'. The 'Cat'! body deformed, chassis deformed, interior same, windscreen opaque & rough. The black plastic had turned a dark gray as though it had been bleached? Never come across that EVER?! 1st. time! Anybody had a similar thing happen at all? P.S: Even in my most optimistic 'gauntlet-thrown-down-this-can-be-resurrected' moment...this CAN'T!

Man,that sucks about the T’bird body. I’ve never used oven cleaner as a paint stripper, and I haven’t heard of this happening before!

...yeah, it's a bummer. I already had the MPC green 'fogged' version, so this must of come in as part of a package-deal from another auction I'm guessing? So, I'm fortunate it wasn't the rare one. Still! It's got me baffled? One side is untouched, straight, no problems, the other, the roof & the boot look as if a heat gun was used? Mystery?!
