The "Dos Banditos" are big and little brothers and the big brother is Baja Bandito .
Basically built box stock , I've had this in my stash since purchased new back in '71 or '72 and decided it was time to do something with it . It will probably never be reissued so I decided not to do any modifications or add aftermarket parts . It's a very simple kit and went together quickly with no issues at all , I hope you like it !
Nice fresh plastic in a 50+ year old kit !
Here's a couple of shots of the finished engine and chassis .
The original decals could have been sealed and been usable but there were multiple vertical cracks through out so I opted to print new ones .
The finished Baja Bandito !
The little brother half of this pair is a fun little version named the Speedo Bandito . Box art is my design .
It started with a rare resin body from Jim Johnson of "The Good Stuff" , only a few of these were ever cast and I was lucky enough to get one in a trade with Jim .
It rides on the wheels & tires from a Boss Mustang Snap-Tite with a modified blower & scoop from a Roarin' Rail and zoomie headers from a Jinx Express . Bumpers and roof racks are 1/16" aluminum rod . Headlights , peace emblem , and surfboards were made from scratch .
Paint is Tamiya TS-31 Bright Orange and the windows are clear plastic tinted with Tamiya Clear Red . Homemade decals are patterned after the original Baja Bandito decals .
