Last Wednesday, a buddy of mine tells me the local Walmart has models again. He is a builder too, and said they are in a large cardboard display in a center aisle. I go Thursday night, and its mostly the same AMT MPC stuff they had at Christmas , but they are a bit cheaper, so I buy the AMT 3 in 1 53 Ford truck for 17 bucks. Pretty good , right ? So today I have to go back there to get cat food, and I go by the cardboard display, and its empty ! I figured they must have been sold out , but as I'm leaving I pass the clearance row where everything old goes , and the models are there, and they are CHEAP ! The 53 Ford was down to 10 bucks, the large scale cement mixers and trailer trucks were 15 bucks, and the AMT 64 Galaxie , the MPC grumpy's toy Vega, and many others were 5 bucks ! 5 BUCKS !?! Needless to say I bought more than I should have, but I don't think a kit has sold for 5 bucks since the 1980s

Wow! Those $5 deals are awesome! Our oldest son goes Hot Wheel hunting at a local Wally on a daily basis, and he told me there are no model kits at the Walmart closest to his place. I ONLY go to Walmart if other stores I shop at are out of what necessity I am out of,and Wally is the only option left! I don’t like ‘em! Lol

Great scores Don.
Our Wal-Mart here hasn't had models in over 10 years The Wal-Mart I go to is groceries only.
There are only 2 places left that sell models, one is HL and they ended their coupon program so Models are full list and poor selection the other is our ACE hobby shop also full list price, possibly Michaels, but I haven't been there in years, and they mostly had the Testors metal kits, which I like the 1/43 and bought them there.
In the 1990s we probably had 30 places here to buy kits, (I know, I probably went to them all weekly) But when ebay got on a flow I spent most of my hobby money on vintage kits.
So I do my model shopping on ebay, and that has slowed down drastically since I have an obscene amount of model kits, and die-cast. But Thanks to Atlantis they are filling a lot of gaps RD2 was good at first, but then they just seem to re release the same stuff (I already have)and the prices have really gone up.
But at $5 Don, that is Fantastic and glad you were able to get some.

Lol Todd I actually went to the next town overs Wal Mart to see if they had any , and there were no kits, my buddy went to one in the other direction, no kits there either. There is a Hobby Lobby aount an hour from me, last week they had 40% off all models I picked up a couple for 14.99 . The only problem is, most places have the same old stuff
