Back in 2010 I got a phone call from a guy wanting a kit of a Dune Buggy built.
Couldn't think of a Buggy kit of the top of my head so I tell him to come around and we can discuss.
Next day a blue Bentley rolls up my drive.
Turns out he has this kit he wants built.
Haven't seen one of these since the early eighty's.
Tells me the story how he designed the Bugle Buggy and marketed it.
Managed to do a deal with VW where you could buy a new VW and a dune buggy kit at the same time.
These were the $alad days.
After a few years sales started to decline due to second hand units coming into the market.
He then got approached to sell the company and accepted.
Wouldn't tell me how much but with some of the money he brought a mansion.
Used to dress like Austin Powers as well.
Accepted the commission but was always mindful I couldn't get another one.
Took a few months but this is how I gave it back.
Told me the process involved with Airfix to make this kit.
