This was a kit I wanted from the first time I saw the box art in the early 70s Back then I couldn't have painted stripes anywhere near the way the box looked ,and its probably why I never got it then. Forward to 2018 , and I get an original kit , so I get ambitious and figure I'll cut out the doors just like it shows - BAD MOVE ! Revell plastic from then is notorious for being brittle , and the cowl ended up cracking and one rocker broke- this was bad enough to repair, but it wasn't over. While removing some tape for one of the many stipe mask jobs I had to do, the whole front end broke off at the windshield posts and the rockers broke again . At this point I was nearly done with the paint so there was no way I was going to build it again, so I did the best I could to button it up .The decals were another issue ,even though they looked good, they disintegrated in water ,so I had to find others that matched the box art. I still like the looks of the kit, but a word to the wise -If you build one of these, don't cut out the doors !! By the way, the red and blue paint is Testors Custom lacquer spray over a gloss white base.

That really pops,Don!!!! Great paint work, and I'm glad you were happy with the Stars that you applied to the hood and front fenders(a big thank you goes out to Hotwheels Bob for the referral on those!). It looks like a finicky build, and note taken about cutting the doors open. Revell has repopped this a few times, but I think the version you built is the coolest!!! Just look at the door pillar breaking on you as adding a little "character" to the build!!! Or,in the 1:1 version, the truck vibrates so bad down the drag strip that it broke!!! Ha-Ha!!! Todd
