2018 Showrod Showcase Showdown
THE THEME is to build a showrod type of vehicle. It must be from the list of showrods from Dave's Showrod Rally's website. Build the kit however you want, aftermarket parts and kit bashing between showrods is allowed. If you have any question if a kit qualifies, send a picture of it to Bob (paa@twc.com).
The Standard Rules:
The purpose of these rules is so that in every contest, the builds will be judged on the build and not by the builder or by a diorama, therefore dioramas are not allowed. We are striving to eliminate all favoritism.
Anonymity: This is to be a totally anonymous contest for voting purposes. Anyone caught posting their start, in progress or finished build pictures, or discussing their contest entry, either on this site, or elsewhere, before judging/voting is completed - will be considered for disqualification from the contest. This will be strictly enforced, and any decision made by the administration is final.
Pictures: Pictures should be taken in a photo booth, box, or something that will not give away whose it is. Do not take pictures on the kitchen table, model bench, floor etc. If nothing else, use plain white paper or even cardboard to place your entry on. Some of us have seen each other's place before. There will be 7 pictures allowed. We consider 7 covers the whole car (front, rear, side, top, interior, engine and undercarriage). All pictures of 800x600DPI or less will be displayed as is. Larger pictures will be reduced to 800x600. Be sure to see "Judging" for importance of these pictures.
Voting/Judging:
We will have 2 ways the builds will be judged/voted on. The first way is call "Popular Vote". Members vote on the one build they like the best. A member is NOT allowed to vote on their own build if they are in the contest. Highest vote getter is the winner. The winner will receive a complete kit of their desired genre (will have a pick of kits available to them) and a certificate appropriate for framing. The second way is an anonymous judging system. Three anonymous judges will be chosen. These three judges will rate categories of each build based a 1 to 10 point system. When the judges have completed their charts, each build's total points (from all three judges) will be totaled and the highest point getter is 1st place etc. First & Second place winners will receive a cool trophy and a certificate appropriate for framing. The categories that will be judged on are as follows: ENGINE, CHASSIS, INTERIOR, BODY, WHEELS, PAINT and DETAILING. Remember, if say an interior picture is NOT submitted, the build will receive ZERO for that category - hence the importance of what pictures you take & submit.
