....the 1/8 'built'ish Trans Am arrived today,I've seen photos of it in comparison to other scales & thought 'no worries'....MAN!! this thing is a Behemoth of Styrene,it's (insert profanity here) HUGE! an entire shelf in the cabinet will be wiped-out with this puppy & I think of the 3 or 4 other 1/8 kits that are waiting, what was/am I thinking???...'nuff said. ....P.S Does anyone know the difference,configuration-wise, between the 301 & the 6.6 pontiac donks? Ta.

Thats the reason I stay away from those cars-they take up way too much room on my shelves ! As for the engines , the 301 and the 6.6 (400 455) are completely different, The 301 was a late 1970's small block and was a very underpowered and unreliable motor . The 400 and 455 were big blocks , some were just used in wagons and large sedans and others had higher perf. parts in them for the GTO and Firebirds

.....so I'd need an engine out of the '32 Ford, which has a big block Pontiac in it? It's hard for me to gauge, not ever seeing one, the block in this is shorter, narrower?

The 301 is a small v8 ,roughly the size of a 318 chrysler or a 302 ford . The 6.6 is a lot wider. I think if you search for a certain Pontiac on the web images you can see the difference easily. Type in something like Pontiac Firebird 35O, and then Firebird 455 . Either that or search for used cars on Ebay . They always have pictures of the engines there and you can ..
