I'll have some pics shortly but in brief I picked the kit up for $25+shipping from a dealer in the states (not BeelzEbay)everything still sealed in plastic, decals, instructions, metal bits, nice 45yr old box & NO upper body parts which I knew when I bought it.These parts consist of an engine cowl & a monocoque cockpit/2 piece nose cone,so 3 Major parts, but concidering the cost of this kit when complete,I've seen them go for well in excess of $200,I thought "a little bit of hard work would pay off." So for the last couple of weeks, between other stuff,I've been modifying the Tamiya 1/12 49b lotus parts to suit. There was a few years between the 2 actual cars back in the 60's,the 33 was 64-65 & the 49 was 67-? SO,pictures very soon! Thanks. PICTURES. the kit: the missing parts:(chassis was with the kit) the red Tamiya Lotus 49b parts pictured, are similar to their Lotus 49 which were the parts I used to modify. had to sculpt/cast & (poor man's) vacuum form the engine cowl, the original kit version was grossly out of proportion so after viewing numerous photos I made this: where I'm up to: Hope I haven't bored You lot?!

Looks like you've done a ton of work already on this , its really coming along ! As I'm sure you know, these old racing cars were all hand made, so I'm sure there was all sorts of differences between cars, plus some probably got modified as they went along. Keep us posted !

...Yep,true-dat! After reading alot about this era of racing, wrecked cars were re-built from wrecked cars,so the car that's raced & wrecked on Saturday is 'Frankensteined' for Sunday's round. Anyway it's all about knowing when to say 'ENOUGH' & putting the vernier calipers down, otherwise this could take eons, just finished the motor I'll post pics shortly.

Looking at this build, I'd say you're to far gone to save , so you have to finish it- Judging by your work I think you'll have that car actually running soon !

....with the strains of Zamphir's pan pipes in the background & a doobie made from Your hemp sandal....it goes on. Did I mention this started as a 'calming' endeavour, after the 'T' comp'?
