It's amazing some of the plastic model related knowledge that you can find out with a little research.I have wanted this kit for a long time:
I found out today, (6-10-15), that the Japanese Model Company,Union Models,acquired the molds for this kit.I found it for a fraction of the cost of a Vintage IMC gasser VW which is in the first picture.Here is a picture of the Union kit's box:
I compared the Chrome trees for the two kits from two ebay listings,and they are identical! The Union kit VW body is molded in white as opposed to the IMC Red.not a real big thing,but RED seems to take forever to cover and paint in any other color than red!So the Union VW looks easier to paint.The only downside that I see??? The instructions for the Union kit are in Japanese...no problem,the IMC ENGLISH instructions are on Bob Blacks instruction site...Sweet!
