A little more building , here's is what I have so far plus the remains of my original Henry J that I ruined 40 years ago. I toyed with the idea of using the old door on the new build ; a "rat" gasser, but I want this to be box stock . I can see why I had such a hard time as a kid, there is flash on most of the parts, and nearly every piece has to be sanded to mate correctly with the other bits . I was happy with the Revvin red Testors paint ,I painted the inside of the body panels and its close to the original metallic red plastic ! Hi Jim The Testor's Custom Laquer Revvin Red is a spray can . There are about twelve different colors ,all metalflake . I highly recommend picking a can up, it really goes on well, and with a clear coat it really shines. You wont be disappointed ! ;D As for the EMPI - hey, it was in the decal sheet , and as a ten year old, I was gonna use every decal !! LOL Here are a couple of my builds using the Custom Laquer spray paint ttp://i495.photobucket.com/albums/rr317/demowagon/IMGP2377.jpg[/IMG]

Got the "J" painted last night- kind of a pain as I had to tape the doors and the nose (also taped together) to the body for a uniform finish. It came out pretty good IMHO, I'll get some pics soon

Thanks for the compliments ! The Studebaker was the first time I tried a paint fade using spray cans and no masking. I was pretty happy the way it came out, so I tried the same thing on the Scout, which has a slightly modified Miss Deal chassis.

Heres the painted body with with the finished interior stuck in for a mock up shot. The car has been clear coated and I put the windshield in last night .The glass is just a piece of thin plastic, so you have to trace it out and trim to fit. I ended up using cloths pins on either end so I would curve like the windshield frame. The car is metalflake red, the flash washed out the color a bit

Found a little time to work on the 'J' . The doors are now on, and they actually work ! All the glass is in and the floors are glued in. Still working on the suspension .Its pretty flimsy so I basically put one part on, and wait a day or so before doing anything else on it. I'm probably going to put the decals on next, as I don't want to be moving the finished car around too much.

DISASTER TIME ! So, I have two finished builds awaiting decals. Both end up bad...My Trick T I got years ago with some repop decals. I put the first big stripe on- and no white stripe ! worse yet, the yellow and blue are so opaque the silver paint shines right through. They looked good dry, but for decals they are junk. Next is the Henry J . Since I wanted it box stock I tried using the original set, but they just disintegrated. No problem, I had a sheet from 53 Chevy sedan delivery which is nearly the same. I put a few on the car and the edges just curl up as they dry .I put some Solva-set on them, but the edges wont stay down. So thats two diappoinments in one night. Sorry for the rant !!!

Sorry to hear the bad news,Don!!!! Hang in there!!! Take a break from it!!! Oh,and I also had a mishap over the Winter on restoring an original Thames Panel Gasser.Had 'er soaking in the purple pond, and went to finish removing the awful old paint. Guess what happened??? One of the rear doors was so thinly manufactured, that it was almost as thin as paper when I got done getting the paint off!!! No joke!! I got a Monday MFR Thames Panel kit I guess!!! So that project got indefinately shelved!!!! Hey,at least I have a reissue Thames I can steal a rear door out of!!! Todd

....I feel your pain girlfriend,'Canned Heat' had to have all the flame-work done by hand after the decals fell to pieces.Still, the work you've put into it so far's been Brilliant man! As David Soul sang "don't give up on us (builds) baby"

Thanks for the encouragement - I took a few deep breaths, and put a few more decals on...cutting as much of the clear part of the decal off as I can ,and then rubbing as much of the old glue off the decals while they are in the water. Its seems to help a bit .
