Now that I'm finished building a bunch of HO train buildings and an RC car for my son and making a closet for my daughter, I finally got some time last night to start building again . Just opened up a sealed 41 year old kit and started in- Its been months since I've worked on any car kit !

I should have thought about the pic before I posted ! Here it is, the Revell Henry J , the same kit I made a complete mess of as a kid -I waited long time to find the same kit as the one I bought back in 1972 .The box pic is what made me buy it back then, the big tires, all the decals, but they never mentioned how small and fragile this kit is ! I wont be making the same mistakes this time.

Cool choice,Don!!! I will be following this build!!! I love those Revell gasser series models!!!! I recently obtained an original Thames Panel builder, and an original Austin Gasser builder. The Austin is molded in a metallic red...It is almost transparent in certain parts of the body!!!! Restoration is needed on both....but they are ok as they are now!!!! Todd

My original Henry J was metallic red too, and even though the box says this one was molded in candy apple red, it wasn't - just plain old bright red . I was a little bummed until I remembered the kit has two piece fenders that were going to require filler and sanding, so keeping it the molded color wasn't going to be an option. It will be metallic red when its finished !

.....as Todd said,I'll be following it too. I've actually got that kit as well, sealed I think? & the yellow 'dyna-mite' one & the red & white one & the saints one & the one's Todd mentioned,so I'll build mine, vicariously, through You both....& Thanks.

So far, so good -the fenders were done and I completed the steering set up for the front last night- those were two of the hurdles on this kit. I even found the sad remains of my original Henry J build from 1972 - man, did I make a mess ! I've moved the rest of this post to the "in progess" section .
